“Flow with whatever may happen and let your mind be free. Stay centered by accepting whatever you are doing. This is the ultimate.”

Achieving flow…
Are you looking to achieve an immersed feeling of energized focus, full involvement, success in the process of your life while maintaining a relaxed approach? Are you hoping for less anxiety by staying more present to what is happening in your daily life? Have you ever experienced a more stable focus and less distractions but are unable to regain that composure at when the stress is on. Do you need the ability to remain calm during the intense moments rather that becoming hi-jacked by negative reactions?
In times when you need your concentration most, you lose the ability to stay present to what is happening moment to moment. Old negative reactive emotions seem to take over even though you say ‘no’ to them. You feel out of the flow of life as though you are swimming against the river.
Moment to moment…
When you are in the flow, time seems to stop and your attention is able to adapt to what is happening moment to moment, even if it goes against what you thought would happen. You chose realistic goals and are able to use the feedback that you are receiving to adapt appropriately to what is happening. Your mind doesn’t wander but remains in unity with your goal.
Well you are not the only one who feels this in life. Many past clients have had this exact experience of not being able to achieve the state of flow.
Research on the experience of flow shows that there are actual known characteristics that have to be in place to achieve this state. There must be a balance between your skills and your goals; unrealistic goals and over estimation of skills lead to frustration and failure. There must be relaxed and dynamic focus; striving to hard is antithetical to any success. This is called effortless action or the action of non-action. And your brain must be able to remain present to what is happening, even when stress is overwhelming.
I have worked on my focus for years and still it is a problem.
The central method I use to train your brain to stay present to what is happening is brain neurofeedback also called brain biofeedback. Professional athletes, professional actors, singer and dancers, Olympic athletes, business executives, children and adolescents have all found brain biofeedback training to be helpful in helping them achieve improved concentration, relaxed composure in stressful times, and an ability to transform anxiety effortlessly.
Are the results similar to the results of meditation?
The Zengar NeuroCARE® Neurofeedback method of brain training is designed on the model of meditation. In meditation or what is being called ‘mindfulness’, the focus is on maintaining moment to moment awareness. By reading your brainwaves comprehensively moment to moment, and communicating with your brain in its own language when it is losing focus, your brain is able to drop the ‘perturbation’ or upset, and return to present.
How is this possible?
Your brain has a function called the Orienting Response. This response enables the brain (Central Nervous System) to let everything go and return to present; it is survival tactic. What is different about this moment is what this mechanism is constantly and innately asking. The Zengar NeuroCARE approach to brain training triggers the mechanism, and because our brain is changeable (neuroplasticity), it changes how it responds to life events. (See client comments)
Case study:
I am working with a five year old whose parents brought him in because he is overly sensitive, especially in social situations. If there is conflict, he becomes very upset and it takes much effort to get him to return to a composed state. After only a few sessions, his teacher at school has noticed that he is able to self-regulate much faster and get back to a natural flow. Many clients begin to notice only after a few training sessions changes in their behavior and adaptability to life stressing events.
If you feel attracted to trying this approach to brain training, I offer a 20 minute in person consultation to talk and see if this might help you. If you feel that it is not right at this time, that is fine. You can also sign up for the free newsletter to read more about learning to achieve optimal flow in your life.
